Art, Oklahoma culture, Photography Silent Sunday: Spring Over Red Dirt Country March 20, 2011 Red Dirt Kelly Last night the "super moon" provided a big show for millions of people. Here's just one shot from our back yard, taken by Rylee Roberts. Easily 100,000 or more pink tulip bulbs are now up and blooming along Western in the beautiful Chesapeake Energy flower beds...turn onto 63rd Street, head east, and see even more of them! Twilight Saturday night outside Hideaway Pizza in Edmond, and families are still out on the sidewalk talking while children are playing. Evening temperatures are pleasant enough for waiting or eating outdoors. Everywhere you look, children are running around in youth sports clothing and gear. Here's Lydia from Edmond in Jimmy Johns with her family, grabbing a bite to eat after practice. Brother, brother and sister...in an Edmond park enjoying the promise of Spring. Across from the playground, a group of international students play basketball. Looks like winter didn't dampen their skills! If you love flowers and are in the mood to think about your garden this Spring, click this photo and visit the Daily OKlahoman/NewsOK.Com link featuring a photo shoot from April, 2007 by one of their photographers. Lovely! Blogger Joy Franklin captured the blooms of Spring in Oklahoma plus a bee visit! She added a quote to her photo: The flowers of late winter and early spring occupy places in our hearts well out of proportion to their size. ~Gertrude S.
